Bengaluru's much-anticipated second official Food Street, located near Seshadripuram College in Yelahanka New Town, is on track to be completed within three months. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has released an additional Rs 2 crore to expedite the project, bringing the total funding to Rs 5 crore.

Initially earmarked for development last year, the 500-metre street adjacent to Doddaballapur Road and Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan Road has undergone significant transformation. Originally allocated Rs 3 crore, Yelahanka zonal officials requested and received the additional funds to ensure timely completion.

"We have almost completed the construction of about 22 shops, and the electrification work is ongoing. The remaining tasks, including street development, bench installations, and other enhancements, are expected to be finished within the next two to three months," reportedly stated a BBMP official.

The initiative aims to revitalize a previously neglected area frequently used for garbage dumping. BBMP has cleaned up the site and is now focusing on creating a vibrant food hub.

The street will feature small shops and huts, public sit-outs, and aesthetic improvements. Paved with polished granite stones, the street will also have decorative grills, LED streetlights, and a splash of colorful designs.

Once completed, the new Food Street will provide a welcoming space for eatery shop owners and the public, further enriching Bengaluru's culinary landscape.
