A Reddit user’s post about Bangalore’s deteriorating infrastructure has struck a chord with residents, reigniting concerns over the city’s declining quality of life. The user, who moved from Andhra Pradesh in 2019 initially loved the city but now feels that “Bangalore is slowly dying due to the negligence of those in power”.

The post highlights worsening conditions in Horamavu, where residents face frequent power outages, an unreliable water supply that comes just once a week for a few hours, and severely damaged roads. “Even villages in India have better infrastructure than many parts of this city”, the user lamented.
Many residents echoed similar frustrations, pointing out that areas like Whitefield, Electronic City and Bellandur suffer from water shortages and crumbling roads. One user noted that the South and West Bangalore enjoy better planning, while newly developed areas continue to struggle. Others highlighted severe power cuts, with one user comparing it to Delhi, where outages are rare.
Experts blame rapid urbanization for outpacing civic planning, leading to overstretched essential services. The city’s reliance on tanker water supply, worsening traffic congestion and monsoon flooding further highlight governance failures.
With growing discontent, the Karnataka government is under pressure to address these issues. Many fear that without urgent reforms, Bangalore risks losing its status as a leading global tech hub. Residents are demanding better infrastructure management to prevent further decline.
