Bengaluru’s much-anticipated double-decker flyover, aimed at decongesting the notorious Silk Board Junction, is expected to be fully operational by mid-2025. The structure features two tiers: the lower deck for vehicular traffic and the upper deck dedicated to Namma Metro’s Yellow Line, which connects RV Road to Bommasandra.

A partial opening took place in July 2024 when the elevated road was integrated with ramps over the Silk Board flyover, allowing one-way traffic. To enable movement in the opposite direction, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has completed most of the necessary piers, with only a few remaining. The final phase includes a ramp from HSR Layout to BTM Layout, seamlessly linking with the road flyover at Silk Board Metro Station. Once completed, vehicles will move freely towards Ragigudda without encountering a traffic signal.

BMRCL plans to integrate Silk Board’s two metro stations—one for the Yellow Line and another for the Blue Line (Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport)—through a travelator.

While the flyover is expected to reduce congestion at Silk Board, authorities caution that traffic could shift to nearby roads like Marenahalli Road and junctions near Ragigudda Metro Station. However, once the Yellow Line is operational, commuters may opt for metro services, potentially mitigating the overall traffic burden.
