Heavy rainfall in the city over the weekend caused widespread flooding in various areas, with residents in KR Puram, particularly in the Babusapalya Deepika Layout and HBR Layout, experiencing severe waterlogging. Homes in these areas were submerged under several feet of water, leading to significant property damage.

In Babusapalya’s Deepika Layout, the owner of a flooded home described a harrowing experience, with water flooding bedrooms, washrooms, and kitchens. "The water level inside the house was about two feet, and my belongings were floating," said the homeowner. Due to the extensive flooding, the owner was forced to evacuate and move to another location overnight, unable to do much in the face of the overwhelming water.
HBR Layout, too, was severely affected, with multiple homes experiencing similar waterlogging. Residents worked through the night, attempting to remove water from their homes until about 3 AM. However, as the rain continued, the water level surged again, forcing them to lock their homes and relocate. The residents expressed frustration and helplessness, as the sudden influx of water caught them off guard, leading to property damage amounting to thousands of rupees.
The situation has raised concerns about the city’s preparedness for heavy monsoon rains. Many residents are calling for better drainage systems and flood control measures to mitigate the damage during such severe weather events. Local authorities have been notified, and efforts to assist affected families are underway.
