The much-anticipated Pink Line, which will soon become Bengaluru’s longest underground metro route, is now scheduled for completion by December 2026, marking a delay of one year from the initial target. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has planned a two-phase rollout for this line. The initial 7.5-kilometer elevated segment, extending from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere, is expected to be operational by December 2025. The second phase, consisting of a 13.76-kilometer underground section from Dairy Circle to Nagavara, is projected to open by December 2026.

In a recent milestone, BMRCL completed the tunneling for the entire line. This week, the ninth and final Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), named Bhadra, emerged near Nagavara station, marking the end of the tunneling phase. Track installation for the line is expected to finish by October 2025, after which an additional 6-8 months will be required to complete the traction and signaling systems, followed by four months of trial operations. Once launched, the Pink Line is set to significantly improve connectivity across Bengaluru’s key urban areas.
