Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR), home to some of the city’s largest tech parks, is experiencing a significant spike in traffic congestion, with vehicle entries increasing dramatically in June 2025 compared to the same month last year. Data from the Outer Ring Road Companies Association (ORRCA) and Bengaluru Traffic Police shows a sharp 45 percent rise in weekday traffic at major tech hubs stretching from Central Silk Board to KR Puram.

The surge coincides with a widespread return to office mandates, reversing the hybrid work trends that dominated post-Covid years. Making matters worse, the recent ban on bike taxis from June 16 has reduced commuting options for many tech employees, contributing further to the traffic burden.
Midweek days now bear the brunt of the congestion. Wednesdays recorded the sharpest increase, with vehicle entries rising from 82,168 in June 2024 to 1.18 lakh in June 2025. Queue lengths—a measure of traffic buildup—more than doubled that day, spiking 127 percent to 2,267.4 km.
Mondays saw a 20 percent increase in traffic and a 125 percent rise in congestion, while Tuesdays witnessed a modest 5 percent growth in vehicles but a 188 percent congestion surge. Thursdays and Fridays also saw noticeable jumps, reinforcing how the midweek office rush is severely straining Bengaluru’s infrastructure.
