Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Yellow Line project has taken a step forward with a new batch of coaches dispatched from Kolkata. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) confirmed that three coaches from the third train set left the Titagarh factory in West Bengal on April 29. The remaining three coaches are scheduled to be dispatched by May 2, with another set expected to arrive in Bengaluru between May 10 and 15.

The 19.15-kilometre Yellow Line, connecting R.V. Road to Bommasandra, has seen structural completion for several months. However, service rollout has been delayed primarily due to late deliveries of the driverless metro trains. The first set of six coaches, produced in China, reached Bengaluru's Hebbagodi depot on February 14.

The Yellow Line is anticipated to commence limited operations by June 2025, pending approvals, with full services targeted between August and September. The line, which includes 16 fully elevated stations, will serve as a crucial connector between the Green Line at R.V. Road and the upcoming Pink Line at Jayadeva Hospital.

Designed to ease congestion and improve connectivity to major industrial zones including Infosys and Biocon, the project has faced significant delays. Originally, China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) was contracted to supply 216 coaches, but missed obligations prompted BMRCL to involve Titagarh Rail Systems. Despite the partnership, timeline setbacks continue to affect progress.
