To promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and foster sustainable transportation, the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) announced plans to organize a special EV expo exclusively for Secretariat employees in January 2025.

The initiative, revealed during a meeting at the BESCOM office, aligns with a directive from Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh and will be overseen by Energy Minister K.J. George and Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department.

Speaking about the event, BESCOM Managing Director Mahantesh Bilagi reportedly said, “The fair aims to educate participants on the environmental and economic benefits of EVs, particularly two-wheelers. The exhibition will feature live demonstrations, dealer discounts for government employees, and attractive financing options, including no down payment and low-interest loans.”

Bilagi highlighted the growing EV adoption in Bengaluru, which boasts the highest number of EV users in Karnataka. To further support this growth, the state’s Energy Department has been proactive in developing essential infrastructure, including charging stations.

The expo is expected to attract significant participation from EV manufacturers eager to showcase their products. “The event will not only encourage immediate purchases but also pave the way for sustained EV adoption among government employees,” Bilagi added.

This initiative underscores BESCOM’s commitment to advancing green mobility and making EVs more accessible to a broader audience.
