The fraudulent calls, which often impersonate traffic authorities, aim to deceive individuals into providing personal details or making payments. The scams include fake claims about unpaid fines, offers for non-existent vehicle registration or insurance, and false involvement in hit-and-run accidents. In addition, scammers have been sending links that falsely claim to show video evidence of traffic violations.

Another tactic used by the fraudsters involves instructing victims to press a key to verify their identity or confirm payments, a strategy designed to trick them into taking action.

To protect themselves, the BTP urges the public to carefully verify any suspicious calls or messages. Citizens are advised to contact Bengaluru Traffic Police directly via their official website (btp.gov.in) or through the helplines at 080-22868550 and 080-22868444 for confirmation.

This alert aims to help residents stay aware of these scams and take the necessary steps to safeguard their personal information and finances.
