During her flight aboard the Boeing Starliner in 2024, Williams bought a personal copy of the Bhagavad Gita, the revered Hindu scripture, which has accompanied her on previous missions as well. The teachings of the Gita, which emphasize duty, righteousness and inner peace have been a source of strength and guidance for Williams throughout  her career. In the isolated and challenging environment of space, the text served as a reminder of her roots and provided a sense of spiritual grounding.

Alongside the Gita, Williams also took a Lord Ganesha idol, a symbol of wisdom, prosperity and the removal of obstacles. Lord Ganesha idol holds significant importance in Indian culture, and Williams has made it a personal ritual to carry the idol with her during her missions. This practice symbolizes her belief in seeking divine blessings for a successful mission and protection against any challenges that may arise. The idol was placed prominently in her workspace aboard the spacecraft, providing both comfort and a reminder of her cultural identity.

Williams’ act of carrying these sacred symbols aboard the Boeing Starliner highlights her devotion to both her career in space exploration and her spiritual practices, blending science with faith in a way that resonates with many around the world.
