Twitter account BharadwajSpeaks also more popularly known as True Indology, an account that offers interesting and often controversial snippets on Indian history was caught amidst a political storm when an FIR (First Information Report) was filed against the account, after comments made against Savitribai Phule resurfaced when it was shared by 2 websites IndicTales and HinduPost. In the tweets, he had questioned why the British government honoured Savitribai Phule when they were complicit in the oppression and sexual exploitation of millions of Indian women. He had even suggested that Savitribai was a British missionary.

An FIR was registered on May 31st by the Mumbai Police under section 505(2) (Creating ill will between communities).

The account had subsequently deactivated the account for a while. But on 30th July, the account had resurfaced with another detailed thread but this time about the legal proceedings pertaining to the case. He had offered an unconditional apology to the Deputy Chief Minister of  Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He has claimed that his statements have been misrepresented. He has claimed that his intention was only directed against the British government and hence it was ironic that he has been charged under 505(2), the same act which was used to arrest Bal Gangadhar Tilak. He claimed that this has also caused distress to his mother.
