In a video that has now gone viral, a skit performed in the Banaras Hindu University titled “Deepika ki Kahani, BHU ki Zubaani (The story of Deepika, as narrated by BHU )” has garnered mixed reactions from netizens.

It featured a bunch of actors depicting the role of men Deepika was linked to in the past. These included former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former Indian all rounder Yuvraj Singh, son of the owner of Kingfisher Siddharth Mallya and Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor. The person playing Deepika Padukone was in a Ghoonghat similar to the one seen in her film “Ram Leela” wherein her husband Ranveer Singh played the male lead. The skit ended with an actor depicting the role of Ranveer Singh. 

The context for this skit is the revelation by Deepika Padukone during an episode in Koffee with Karan wherein she talked about seeing other men before committing to Ranveer Singh. “I did meet other people, but I wasn’t interested or excited by anyone else that I was seeing. In my mind, I was committed to him. So I would meet other people but at the back of my head, it was like, I am going back to him (sic),” she had said.
