Kempegowda International Airport’s operator, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), has clarified that there has been no change to its flight information display system. This statement came after several users on X alleged that Hindi had been removed from airport signboards, sparking heated debate online. The viral posts, including videos and photos, claimed that the airport had switched to a two-language format which is English and Kannada excluding Hindi. While some supported the move, others criticized it as inconvenient for non-Kannada speakers.

In response, BIAL emphasized that their display systems continue to show information in English and Kannada as per existing practices. The operator also added that way-finding signs across the terminal are still displayed in English, Kannada and Hindi. A video claiming the removal of Hindi signage had  gone viral, garnering over two million views and attracting mixed reactions.

Critics questioned the practicality of removing Hindi, pointing out that many passengers at the airport may not understand English or Kannada. Some  argued that airports should include as many Indian languages as possible to ease travel, while others viewed the alleged removal as a form of linguistic exclusion.
