Bidar: Justice served in buffalo theft case after 58 years

    Vittal and Kishan had stolen 2 Buffalos and a Calf from Kulkarni in 1965

    They were granted bail and had usd the opportunity to flee to Maharashtra

    Kishan and Kulkarni have passed away

In 1965, Ganapathy Vittal Vagore and Kishan Chandar had stolen 2 buffalos and a calf from Muralidharao Manikrao Kulkarni in the Mehker village in the Balki taluk of the Bidar district in Karnataka. They were traced by the police and handed over to Muralidharrao Manikrao Kulkarni. 

The 2 accused were even presented in front of the court. They were however granted bail. Having secured a temporary freedom, both the accused made the most of the opportunity and absconded to Maharashtra. During the time of the theft, they were residing in Udgir taluk in the Latur district in Maharashtra. 

A Long Pending Report (LPR) was filed against the case. Kishan Chandar passed away on April 11th 2006. Muralidhar Manikrao Kulkarni is also no more.  

The Bidar Superintendent of Police S.L Channabasavvana is resolute to close all LPRs and has even formed a team to that effect. The team traced Ganapathi Vittal Vagore and he was brought to Bidar.
