In a significant move within Karnataka politics, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled sitting MLAs S.T Somashekar and Shivaram Hebbar from the party. The BJP’s central disciplinary committee issued an immediate expulsion order, banning the two leaders from the party for six years.
The decision comes after both MLAs were accused of engaging in activities that went against party principles. The BJP had previously issued them a notice, asking them to provide an explanation for their alleged anti-party actions. The deadline for responding to the notice was set for May 25.
As the two MLAs failed to provide a response within the given timeframe, the BJP has acted swiftly by removing them from the party’s fold. The expulsion has sent shockwaves across the state’s political landscape, highlighting the party’s firm approach toward dealing with dissent and disloyalty.
