The dispute between Bollywood actor Salman Khan and the Bishnoi community saw a surge in tensions this weekend as members of the Bishnoi community gathered in Jodhpur, setting ablaze effigies of Salman and his father, Salim Khan. The protests unfolded on Saturday during the Bishnoi Dharma Sthapana Diwas, a day marking the founding of the Bishnoi community.

The demonstrations erupted following recent comments made by Salim Khan, who publicly defended his son, claiming that Salman had no involvement in the decades-old blackbuck poaching case. Images and videos of the protest circulated online, showing the community’s members demanding an apology from the actor.

Community leaders expressed their disapproval, stating, "We, as Bishnois, are committed to justice and truth. Salim Khan’s remarks are misleading, and they have deeply hurt our sentiments. We stand united in our pursuit of justice for the blackbuck case."

The Bishnoi community’s concerns also extend to Salman’s legal defense, which they claim includes high-profile lawyers aiming to influence the case. Community members warned of intensified protests if Salman does not issue an apology.

Salim Khan’s recent defense of Salman asserted that the accusations against him are baseless, suggesting the Bishnoi community is seeking fame and financial gain. Meanwhile, security around Salman Khan has increased following threats linked to the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, with connections drawn to Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi.
