  • The values of Basava and Ambedkar are what govern Karnataka: Kharge

Minister of IT/BT in the Government of Karnataka Priyank Kharge lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) making allegations of religious polarisation and corruption. He addressed a gathering in Hubballi in which he opened an attack against the opposition party. “The previous government followed the principle of Hindutva. We follow the principles of the constitution. This country has not been founded on the values imbibed in the Bhagavad Gita, Quran or the Bible. The values of Basava and Ambedkar are what govern Karnataka. The previous speaker proudly proclaimed to belong to the RSS,’ he said.

He also built his attack on the basis of BJP MLA Basangouda Yatnal’s statement that the previous government looted Rs 40,000 crore during the Covid-19 pandemic. “The BJP has made money on top of corpses. The Rs 40,000 crore scam indicates their lack of humanity. This is not an allegation made by Congress. A former cabinet minister and an extant MLA from BJP has levelled these charges. The BJP State President and the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly must respond to this. A share of the loot might have also been shared with the Central government,” he stated.  He also egged on Basanagouda Patil to release documents pertaining to his allegation.
