In a symbolic act of penance, Annamalai whipped himself multiple times, denouncing the administration's negligence and lack of accountability.

The BJP leader alleged that police leaked the victim's personal details, violating her dignity, and criticized the government for inadequate CCTV surveillance and misuse of the Nirbhaya Fund meant for women’s safety.

Annamalai also demanded the removal of senior police officials involved in the case, calling for accountability within the force. He slammed Law Minister S. Regupathy for defending the government’s actions, asserting that such “dirty politics” undermines governance and public trust.

To further his protest, Annamalai announced a 48-day fast, during which he plans to visit the six sacred abodes of Lord Muruga to “complain about the state’s deteriorating governance.” Additionally, he vowed not to wear footwear until the DMK is ousted from power.

Annamalai urged BJP cadres to avoid public demonstrations leading to arrests and instead protest from their homes. He called on Tamil Nadu's middle class to rise against the DMK regime, asserting, “Women’s safety should never be compromised under any circumstance.”
