Bengaluru's Namma Metro has continued to witness an upward trend in ridership, defying expectations following a recent fare increase. After a temporary dip in February 2025, when passenger numbers dropped to 2.09 crore from 2.5 crore in January, the city's metro network quickly regained momentum.

March saw ridership bounce back to 2.24 crore, and April posted an even higher figure at 2.28 crore, indicating a robust recovery and steady commuter demand. The month also recorded a new single-day high on April 17, with over 9.08 lakh passengers using the metro. On that day alone, the Purple Line catered to 4,35,516 commuters, while the Green Line handled 2,85,240.

The sustained increase suggests that the fare revision has had limited impact on the metro’s appeal. Instead, it points to a growing dependence on the metro system among Bengaluru’s urban population. Rising traffic congestion and the reliability of metro services appear to be driving the surge in usage.

The data reflects continued public trust in the city’s expanding mass transit system. As Namma Metro extends its network and improves frequency, it remains a vital link for daily travel in Bengaluru, easing road congestion and offering a time-efficient alternative.

Despite costlier tickets, the metro continues to attract high footfall, underscoring its importance in the city's evolving transport landscape.
