Starting January 13, Bengaluru’s metro services will begin earlier on Mondays, with trains operating from 4:15 AM. This adjustment by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) aims to provide greater convenience for passengers returning to the city after weekend trips.

The revised schedule is designed to ensure commuters have access to metro services as soon as they arrive at key transit points such as the City Railway Station and Kempegowda Bus Stand. The move will help ease the morning commute and enhance last-mile connectivity for early travelers.
This change is limited to Mondays, with metro services continuing to start at 5:00 AM on all other days of the week, maintaining the existing timetable. BMRCL’s decision reflects its ongoing efforts to improve passenger convenience and accommodate the needs of early-morning commuters in the growing city.
In related news, Bengaluru’s Namma Metro may soon see a fare hike, projected to increase by 40-45%—the first such rise in nearly eight years. This proposed fare revision has raised concerns, especially as the metro serves as a crucial transport link for the city’s tech workforce. The fare hike proposal is expected to be reviewed by the BMRCL board in its meeting on January 17.
