On Friday, BMRCL received the Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) certificate, confirming that the Yellow Line has successfully cleared all required technical and safety inspections. This clears the way for the mandatory final inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), scheduled for July 15 and 16.
The corridor, part of Phase 2 of the Namma Metro expansion, includes 16 stations and will connect key industrial and residential zones in southern Bengaluru. Officials confirmed that if the CMRS inspection is successful, BMRCL will promptly seek final approval from both the state and central governments for inauguration.
According to sources within BMRCL, the inauguration of the Yellow Line is most likely to take place in the second week of August, ending months of speculation and delay. Once operational, the new line is expected to significantly ease congestion along the southern corridor and improve connectivity for thousands of daily commuters.
With safety clearances nearly complete, the city is now on the brink of witnessing yet another major milestone in its expanding metro network.
