Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced extended metro services to accommodate cricket fans attending the Women’s Premier League (WPL) matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium. The matches are scheduled on February 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, and March 1, 2025.

To manage the expected increase in ridership, metro services on the Purple and Green Lines will run beyond regular hours. The last train from terminal stations—Challaghatta, Whitefield, Madavara, and Silk Institute—will depart at 11:20 PM. Meanwhile, the final service from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic) will leave at 11:55 PM in all directions.
BMRCL has assured seamless access through multiple ticketing options, including QR tickets, Smart Cards, National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC), and tokens. The initiative aims to encourage public transport use, reducing congestion around the stadium.
Bengaluru Metro has routinely extended services for major cricket events, including IPL and WPL, given the city’s heavy traffic. However, the recent fare hike by Namma Metro led to a decline in daily ridership, with over six lakh passengers opting out in the first week. Despite this, BMRCL anticipates a surge in metro users during match days as fans prefer public transport over private vehicles.
The move reflects Bengaluru’s growing emphasis on efficient urban mobility solutions for large-scale sporting events.
