The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has temporarily halted the issuance of National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) at metro stations due to technical issues faced by commuters. Many passengers reported problems with recharging and using the cards during their metro travel.

The disruption occurred following a backend system shift after RBL Bank which is the official provider of NCMC cards changed its vendor. This change led to the system glitches that affected the functionality of the cards for some users.
To ease the inconvenience, BMRCL is now offering contactless Namma Metro cards free of cost to those affected. Additionally, the balance from non-working NCMC cards is being transferred to the new cards without charging commuters any extra fees.
Despite the NCMC cards being used by a smaller number of passengers compared to tokens, QR codes or regular smart cards, about 1000 commuters are reportedly reaching out to metro customer care daily with card-related complaints. In response, BMRCL has made resolving the issue a top priority.
Officials have stated that the technical problems are likely to be resolved by April 15. Once fixed, the issuance and usage of NCMC cards are expected to return to normal.
