The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has intensified its enforcement against ticketless travel and misuse of reserved seating, collecting ₹19,13,830 in fines over three months.

During August, September, and October, BMTC inspectors conducted checks on 57,219 bus trips, uncovering 8,891 instances of ticketless travel. Offenders were fined a total of ₹17,96,030. Additionally, action was taken against bus operators in 5,268 cases for violations related to ticketing and passenger management.

The crackdown extended to passengers misusing seats reserved for women. Inspectors identified 1,178 male passengers occupying these seats, imposing fines totaling ₹1,17,800.

The BMTC’s efforts highlight its commitment to ensuring compliance with ticketing rules and protecting the rights of women passengers. Officials emphasized that these enforcement drives aim to improve the overall travel experience for commuters while discouraging violations.

This recent operation reflects the BMTC’s broader strategy to enhance public transport services and increase revenue by curbing unauthorized travel. Authorities have urged commuters to adhere to regulations to avoid penalties and contribute to maintaining orderly and respectful travel conditions.

Further enforcement campaigns are expected in the coming months to sustain the momentum and ensure stricter adherence to BMTC rules.
