In response to the burgeoning demand for Metro services in Bengaluru, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has revealed a robust plan to upscale its Metro feeder services, aiming to introduce a fleet of 300 buses.

These efforts come in light of the pressing need for enhanced last-mile connectivity, with BMTC proposing the utilization of 9-meter-long buses for this purpose.

As per media report, BMTC is poised to uniquely brand these nine-meter midi metro feeder buses.

Presently, as part of the national clean air initiative, BMTC has already deployed 9-meter non-AC 120 electric buses on the existing metro feeder lines. Looking ahead, an additional 179 buses are set to be introduced by April 2024, supplementing the existing 121 buses, thus amplifying the total count of feeder services to 300.

BMTC’s operational scope covers areas within and up to 25 km beyond the BBMP jurisdiction.

With the Metro network expanding to cover 73.81 kilometers, the demand for seamless first and last-mile connections for Metro rail passengers is on the rise.

Consequently, BMTC is working actively to facilitate these connections through its well-structured metro feeder services.

Presently, the corporation operates 121 schedules, facilitating a total of 1,874 metro feeder trips across 30 routes originating from various metro stations within the city.
