Facility aims to elevate its annual sourcing from India to Rs 10,000 crore

Boeing India is set to establish its most extensive facility outside the United States in Bengaluru, with a substantial investment of Rs 1600 crore.

This sprawling 43-acre complex, strategically positioned in the Aerospace Park near Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli, marks a significant milestone for the company’s expansion plans in India.

Boeing India is aiming to elevate its annual sourcing from India to an impressive Rs 10,000 crore, surpassing the current Rs 8000 crore level.

This move follows Boeing’s recent commitment to invest $100 million in infrastructure and pilot training programs within India.

The decision was made in the wake of Air India’s substantial orders, including 20 787 Dreamliners, 10 777Xs, and 190 737 MAX narrowbody aircraft, amounting to a noteworthy boost in their collaboration.

The selection of Devanahalli as the site for Boeing India’s flagship complex is not a coincidence. As Bengaluru’s boundaries continue to expand northward, Devanahalli has emerged as a thriving epicenter, primarily attributed to its proximity to Kempegowda International Airport.

Additionally, the forthcoming Blue metro line (KR Pura – Yelahanka – KIA), approved in April 2021, has further accentuated Devanahalli’s appeal, spurring job opportunities and, consequently, an increased demand for housing in the area. These cumulative factors have steered Boeing’s decision to establish its largest facility in this burgeoning locale.

Boeing’s India operations, headquartered in Delhi, encompass field service offices in Mumbai, Hindan, Rajali, and New Delhi. Notably, their Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) is rapidly expanding in Bengaluru and Chennai, reflecting the company’s commitment to harnessing India’s talent and resources for its global endeavors.
