Bollywood actor Rimi Sen has filed a ₹50 crore lawsuit against car manufacturer Land Rover, accusing the company of selling her a defective vehicle and causing her significant mental harassment. In her complaint, she claims the car, largely unused during the COVID-19 pandemic, began showing serious defects once she started using it extensively. Among the issues she reported were problems with the sunroof, sound system, and rear-end camera. According to the complaint, a malfunctioning rear-end camera led to a collision with a pillar on August 25, 2022.
Despite notifying the dealer about these recurring problems, Sen alleges that her concerns were met with dismissive responses, with the dealer demanding evidence before taking any action. This led to repeated cycles of repairs, where one issue would be addressed only for another to emerge.
Sen’s legal notice contends that the vehicle is defective in both its manufacturing and its subsequent maintenance by the authorized dealer. She has reportedly sent the car for repairs over ten times, yet the issues persist. Alongside the ₹50 crore compensation for mental harassment, she is also seeking ₹10 lakh to cover legal expenses and a replacement for the defective vehicle.
