The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a reward of Rs 125 crore for Team India following their historic T20 World Cup victory. Led by Rohit Sharma, the team ended an 11-year ICC trophy drought by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

Key players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya were crucial in the triumph. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah praised the team’s performance, announcing the prize and commending their talent, determination, and sportsmanship. "Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this extraordinary achievement," Shah stated.

The 2024 T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, featured 20 teams over 28 days across nine venues. The International Cricket Council (ICC) set a total prize pool of $11.25 million, with Team India earning at least $2.45 million and the runner-up, South Africa, receiving $1.28 million.

Under Sharma’s leadership, India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, making him the second Indian captain to win the T20 World Cup and the first player to secure two T20 World Cup victories for India. BCCI Secretary Shah lauded Sharma’s leadership and the team’s resilience, stating, "They are the first team in ICC T20 World Cup history to win the tournament unbeaten."
