    Heavy rains last night have left Bengaluru in a mess

    Waters enter the dwelling places of residents

While the Siddaramaiah government boasts of Brand Bengaluru, hoping to sell Bengaluru’s image globally, the city struggles to cope up with water woes! 

Indeed, when it rains, it pours! 

Rains that hit the city last night have brought the garden city to its heels. Interestingly, many in the IT sector have begun critcising the city’s infrastructure openly, with some even saying that IT corridors like Electronics City paying property taxes worth Rs 1100 crore.

While the central parts of the city haven’t come much under the firing line, it is the cities that are far from the centre that have borne the burnt. 

For example, many households have been left fuming as their houses have received copious amounts of rain, leaving them to clean the interiors, with no other choice. 

Elsewhere, ambulances were stuck in underpasses as they could not handle heavy inflow. Roads were turned into swimming pools, with people left fending for themselves. 

A few months ago, Dy CM Shivakumar was gung-ho about the Brand Bengaluru project, promising people and IT experts that the city would become more accessible to them. 

But reality bites hard as waters continue to inundate not just the roads, but also the lives of people with miseries!
