In a significant development along the Line of Control (LoC), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has expressed strong concern over Pakistan’s recent military actions, terming them “provocative and escalatory.” The statement came during a special briefing, where India reiterated its commitment to peace but warned that restraint must be mutual.
India Calls for Discipline Amid Rising Tensions
The MEA spokesperson, addressing reporters in New Delhi, emphasized that India does not seek escalation but expects Pakistan to adhere to the same standards of discipline and responsibility. "Our approach has been measured and mature, aimed at maintaining regional stability," the official noted.
The Indian government's response comes amid reports that Pakistan attempted airspace violations across 26 locations on May 9 and 10. These acts, India stated, have significantly heightened tensions along the border and prompted a swift military response.
Precision Strikes in Response to Cross-Border Aggression
In a coordinated countermeasure, the Indian Armed Forces launched targeted precision strikes on Pakistani military installations. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, speaking at a defence briefing, stated that the Indian Air Force targeted only "identified military assets" and avoided civilian infrastructure.
“These included command and control centres, radar sites, technical infrastructure, and weapons storage facilities. The intent was clear — neutralise threats without causing civilian casualties,” said Wing Commander Singh.
Pakistan Accused of Targeting Civilian Sites
Indian officials accused Pakistan of violating international norms by targeting non-military infrastructure, including medical and educational facilities in Kashmir. These actions have drawn condemnation from both domestic and international observers.
“While India’s military operations were confined to tactical targets, Pakistan’s approach has been indiscriminate and irresponsible,” a senior official in the Defence Ministry stated.
Pakistan’s False Claims
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri dismissed Pakistan’s allegations of critical infrastructure damage as “completely false,” asserting that no such incidents occurred. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to non-escalation, emphasizing that this stance depends on reciprocal restraint from the Pakistan military. Addressing specific claims, Misri labelled Pakistan’s accusation of missile strikes on a religious site as “ludicrous” and without any basis.
Backing this position, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh also rejected Pakistan’s narrative, calling it a deliberate misinformation campaign. She stated that Pakistan’s claims of destroying India’s S-400 air defence system and damaging airfields in Surat are entirely fabricated. Singh urged caution against accepting such propaganda, highlighting India’s operational readiness and the falsehoods being spread to mislead the public.
Both officials underscored India’s focus on maintaining regional stability while defending against baseless allegations aimed at provoking tensions.
Pakistani Troop Movements Raise Concerns
Adding to the growing unease, intelligence inputs suggest that Pakistan is moving additional troops to forward areas along the LoC. This deployment is seen as an escalatory gesture by New Delhi and has prompted India to closely monitor the situation through surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
