Hailing from Udaipur, the siblings were children of Sanjeev Modi, a prominent marble trader. Shubh, who was studying Chemical Engineering in London, had planned the trip to show his sister the sights of the UK. Shaguna had recently completed her BA-BBA from PDEU in Gandhinagar. The two had boarded the ill-fated flight from Ahmedabad airport, excited for their journey together.

Family members are in deep shock. Satish Bhandari, a relative, shared the emotional toll the tragedy has taken: “They were just going on vacation. Who could have imagined this would be their final journey?” He added that the family was unaware of the accident until the siblings’ grandmother called, urging them to watch the news on TV. Only then did they realize the devastating truth.

"This is beyond imagination. We are still in shock," said Bhandari.

The loss of Shaguna and Shubh has left not only their family but their entire community in mourning, as yet another painful chapter unfolds in the wake of the tragic Air India crash.
