In a significant counter-infiltration operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt along the International Border in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating seven terrorists. The heavily armed infiltrators were reportedly associated with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, according to initial intelligence inputs.

The attempted breach occurred in the early hours of Friday when BSF personnel detected suspicious movement near the border fence under the cover of darkness and thick vegetation. A swift and coordinated response from the BSF led to a fierce gunbattle that lasted several hours. All seven terrorists were neutralised before they could cross into Indian territory.
Sources said the terrorists were carrying sophisticated weapons, ammunition, and communication equipment, suggesting they intended to launch high-impact terror attacks within India. “This operation is a testament to the BSF's vigilance and preparedness. The infiltration attempt was well-planned but decisively foiled,” a senior BSF official reportedly said.
This incident marks one of the most significant infiltration bids foiled in recent months, amid growing concerns of cross-border terrorism ahead of key national events and the ongoing election cycle. The area has since been cordoned off for a thorough search operation to rule out the presence of additional infiltrators or hidden arms caches.
The BSF has stepped up patrols and surveillance along the border, amid fears of further attempts by terror groups operating from across the border.
