  • BWSSB offers 12 month EMI for Cauvery water connections
  • 20% upfront payment, rest in monthly instalments
  • GPS-tracked tanker booking now available online

In an effort to improve access to piped Cauvery water across Bengaluru, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has introduced a flexible payment scheme for apartment associations  and housing societies not yet connected to the city’s water network. It may be noted that this initiative follows a directive from Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who also oversees Bengaluru’s development. The scheme is expected to officially roll out after April 15.

The BWSSB explains that the new plan will reduce the financial strain on communities by allowing them to pay connection charges in monthly installments rather than a lump sum. Under the scheme, 20% of the total charges, covering expenses like meter costs, inspection fees and line extension charges must be paid upfront. The remaining 80% can then be settled in 12 equal monthly instalments.

Additionally, to address ongoing water scarcity issues and streamline water delivery, BWSSB has launched a digital platform for booking GPS-tracked Cauvery water tankers. The mobile-friendly system, available through the BWSSB website, enables residents to order tankers at fixed prices, pay online, and receive water within a specified timeframe. This initiative aims to eliminate intermediaries, control pricing, and ensure fair access to BIS-certified drinking water for households without piped connections.
