A Canadian traveler’s comparison of hospitality in India and Pakistan has ignited a heated discussion online. In a recent vox pop interview, Nolan Saumure was asked to choose between the two neighboring countries in terms of warmth and hospitality. Without hesitation, he picked Pakistan, stating that his experiences there had been significantly more welcoming.

Saumure explained that in India, foreigners are often seen as potential customers with deep pockets rather than guests. He claimed that many people in India tend to focus on financial transactions when interacting with tourists. In contrast, he described Pakistan as a place where locals readily invite visitors to share their meals and even offer them a place to stay.

“You go to Pakistan, and people welcome you with open arms, offering free food and even a place to sleep,” Saumure reportedly said. His remarks have struck a chord with many social media users, particularly those who have traveled to both countries.
The video has garnered over 4.4 million views and has sparked a wave of comments. Some users agreed with Saumure’s observation, with one Dubai-based African expatriate echoing similar sentiments about Pakistanis being more friendly and open. Others, however, have contested his views, arguing that hospitality varies by region and personal experiences.
The debate continues, with many weighing in on how cultural perceptions shape hospitality across borders.
