On June 9, 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) welcomed Mahendra Singh Dhoni into its prestigious Hall of Fame, marking him as the 11th Indian cricketer to receive this honor. The announcement, made just weeks before Dhoni’s 44th birthday, celebrates his extraordinary contributions to cricket, nearly five years after his retirement from international play in August 2020. Dhoni, fondly called "Captain Cool," last represented India in the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final.

Hailing from Ranchi, Dhoni debuted in 2004 against Bangladesh and quickly became a cornerstone of Indian cricket. Renowned for his agile wicket-keeping and dynamic batting, he blasted 148 runs against Pakistan in just his fifth ODI. Taking over the ODI captaincy in 2007 and Test leadership in 2008, Dhoni led India to remarkable triumphs, including the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2011 Cricket World Cup, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, becoming the only captain to claim all three ICC titles.
