Dhoni burst onto the international scene in 2004 and quickly became known for his fearless batting and unconventional style. He took over as India’s limited-overs captain in 2007, leading a young team to victory in the inaugural T20 World Cup. Under his leadership, India went on to win the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy , making him the only captain in cricket history to win all three major ICC white-ball titles.

In Test cricket, Dhoni led India to the top of the world rankings for the first time and maintained that position for nearly two years. His leadership transformed India’s approach to the longest format with a balance of aggression and patience.

With over 17,000 international runs and 800+ dismissals as a wicketkeeper, Dhoni’s stats are as impressive as his leadership. In ODIs alone, he scored over 10,000 runs at an average above 50, a feat achieved by only a few in cricket history.

In the Indian Premier League, Dhoni became the face of Chennai Super Kings, guiding them to five titles and ten finals. Even after retiring from international cricket in 2020, he continues to be CSK’s backbone, leading them in the 2025 season and keeping fans guessing about his future.

His achievements have been recognized with India’s top civilian and sporting honors, including the Padma Bhushan and the Khel Ratna.
