Singhvi, who occupies seat 222, vehemently denied the accusation, stating, "I had only ₹500 with me before entering the Rajya Sabha. This is the first time I am hearing of such an incident here." Singhvi added that he had been in the Rajya Sabha canteen until 1:30 PM, underscoring his lack of involvement.

Chairman Dhankar confirmed an investigation had been ordered to determine the origins of the cash. “The security forces found the cash during their usual inspection after the session was adjourned. As per protocol, an inquiry will be conducted," he stated.

Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Chairman for naming Singhvi before the investigation's conclusion. "You cannot disclose the MP's name until the matter is fully proven," Kharge said, questioning the propriety of Dhankar's remarks.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju countered the criticism, defending the disclosure of the seat number and MP’s name. “There is nothing wrong in mentioning it. How appropriate is it to bring bundles of cash into the Rajya Sabha?" Rijiju retorted.

Amid the controversy, Singhvi welcomed the probe, suggesting MPs be provided self-locking seats to prevent similar allegations in the future.
