CBI raids Ranya Rao’s home, analyzes her wedding footage and guests who gifted expensive gifts

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its probe into an alleged gold smuggling case linked to Kannada actor Ranya Rao, conducting searches at multiple locations in Bengaluru. Officials raided her residence, the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) office, and the luxury hotel where her wedding took place.

Investigators are scrutinizing the event’s footage, guest list, and high-value gifts received to trace potential connections to the smuggling network. Authorities are particularly examining links between the actor and individuals who presented expensive gifts, suspecting possible financial irregularities.

Beyond Ranya Rao, officials are also investigating high-profile personalities who may be connected to the smuggling operation. The case has taken a broader turn, with the CBI also reviewing land approvals handled by KIADB, indicating potential regulatory lapses.

A team from the agency’s Delhi unit is spearheading the inquiry, coordinating with other enforcement agencies. Meanwhile, proceedings on Ranya Rao’s bail plea are underway at the Special Court for Economic Offences. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) investigation officer appeared in court as legal proceedings progressed. The court had previously directed authorities to file objections to the bail request, with DRI’s legal team expected to present its stance during the hearing.

As the probe unfolds, officials are expected to widen their investigation to uncover deeper financial and logistical links tied to the gold smuggling network.
