Bengaluru witnessed a mix of joy and tragedy as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) celebrated their maiden IPL trophy win after 18 years. Kannada rapper and actor Chandan Shetty, who was present at the Chinnaswamy Stadium for the celebrations, shared a harrowing account of the overcrowding and chaos he experienced.

Chandan, who had a pass for Gate 3, said he couldn’t even get close to the gate due to the massive crowd. “I was so happy since morning that RCB had finally won the cup after 18 years. But I couldn’t even approach Gate 3, despite having a pass,” he said.
He eventually made his way towards Gate 10, only to find an even larger crowd. “For a moment, I struggled to breathe. I can only imagine how those 11 people felt before losing their lives in the stampede. May their souls rest in peace,” he added, visibly shaken.
Shetty questioned the lack of proper planning and security. “I don’t know who’s responsible, but was the event organized properly? The crowd was too much. Maybe if the celebrations had been held two days later with better arrangements, such tragedy could have been avoided,” he stated.
He also wished a speedy recovery to those still in the ICU, praying for their well-being and mourning the loss of lives.
