Suresh Pillai, founder of Restaurant Chef Pillai, recollected an instance wherein world cup winning captain, MS Dhoni had visited his restaurant. The incident was from when India took on West Indies on October 31st 2018. India had registered a dominant win by 9 wickets after a 4-fer from Jadeja had wrapped up the West Indies innings for 104.

They stayed over in Leela, Kollavam. The rest of the team had ordered seafood which was the speciality of the restaurant. Dhoni however requested the chef for Chicken curry and rice as he was apparently allergic to seafood.

“I can’t have seafood, Chef. I am allergic. Can I get some Chicken curry and rice? I would also like some spicy rasam since I have a sore throat,” (He even asked, ‘Poondu Rasam kedakkuma?'”) Pillai recollected. Dhoni had attempted to speak to the chef in Tamil. The next day while enroute the gym, Dhoni had also thanked the chef for a delicious dinner. The chef had categorised that moment as a momentous occasion in his career. Dhoni always has a way of staying in touch with his fan base and does not have headweight owing to success and fame.
