Chennai: Actor Vijay Anthony’s daughter dies by suicide

Tragedy has unfolded in music composer turned actor Vijay Anthony’s family as his daughter was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the early hours of 19th September at 3 A.M. The 16-year-old Meera was a class 12 student at Sacred Heart School in Chennai. She was apparently under a lot of stress owing to the pressure of board exams. She was also being treated for the same. Reports are also suggesting that she was going through a phase of depression. 

She was rushed to the nearby hospital wherein she was declared “brought dead”. Vijay Anthony’s father had also died by suicide. An old video wherein he had talked about his feelings on this issue has resurfaced after the incident. 

 “In life no matter what difficulties one in undergoing, suicide must never be an option. It is irresponsible. My father died by suicide. I was 7-years-old at that point of time. I know how much my mother suffered with 2 young children to take care of. That pain is immense for me. When people say I am always calm and I don’t speak much, it is not because I do not know what to say. It is just that I have seen a lot. It feels like, what more do I have to say,” is heard saying in the video.
