In a unique legal dispute, a Chennai-based engineering student, VV Vaageesan, has filed a ₹1.1 crore lawsuit against the makers of the Tamil film Amaran. The film, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, was released on October 31, 2024. Shortly after its debut, Vaageesan began receiving incessant calls from people believing the number belonged to Sai Pallavi. Initially baffled, the student later discovered that his phone number had been prominently featured in a scene, causing severe disruption to his daily life.

Despite multiple attempts to contact director Rajkumar Periyasamy and actor Sivakarthikeyan through social media, Vaageesan claims he received no response. Left with no alternative, he served a legal notice demanding the removal of the number from the film and seeking compensation for the emotional distress and inconvenience caused.

Vaageesan's lawyer has emphasized the impact of the incident on his client’s life and has urged the production team to address the issue promptly. However, the film's makers are yet to respond to the legal notice, while Vaageesan continues to endure relentless calls from the public.

The case has drawn attention to the responsibilities of filmmakers in safeguarding individuals' privacy and avoiding unintended consequences in their creative works.
