The Indian Parliament is set to witness a fiery debate today over the highly sensitive ‘Operation Sindoor’, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expected to initiate the discussion in the Lok Sabha. The conversation comes on the heels of controversial comments made by senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram, who questioned the narrative that the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack were of Pakistani origin.

In a recent interview, Chidambaram remarked that the attackers may have been "home-grown", challenging the government's assertion that they came from Pakistan. “What proof do we have that they came from Pakistan?” he asked, adding, “As far as I know, the attackers could be from within our own country.”
This statement has sparked a political storm. BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya lashed out, accusing the Congress of always protecting India's enemies and offering a "clean chit" to Pakistan. The BJP is likely to use today’s session to strongly counter these claims, with references expected to India's military achievements during Operation Sindhoor, which, according to Rajnath Singh, successfully destroyed terrorist headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed across the border.
Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and TMC and DMK members, are also expected to participate actively. They are demanding transparency from the Centre regarding the extent of India’s losses during the operation.
Home Minister Amit Shah is also expected to speak, likely highlighting the operation’s success and accusing the Congress of past strategic errors like the 1972 Shimla Agreement.
