In the wake of heavy rains causing significant trouble across Bengaluru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah conducted a comprehensive inspection of the rain-damaged areas, following a visit by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar earlier in the week.

The CM’s city rounds began at 11 am from his Home Office Krishna. His first stop was the Gali Anjaneya Temple on Mysore Road, where he inspected the ongoing work by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). He then proceeded to observe dredging operations in the rainwater drain on the Outer Ring Road near Nayandahalli.

The CM’s inspection tour included several critical locations prone to flooding: Banashankari Temple, J.P. Nagar, Dalmia Junction, Bannerghatta Road, Vijaya Bank Layout, Kodichikkanahalli, Hosur Road, Silk Board Junction, HSR Layout, Agara lake, Sarjapura, Bellandur, and Yamalur road sections. Accompanying him were officials from BBMP, BWSSB and BESCOM.

At Gali Anjaneya temple ward in the Vijayanagar assembly constituency, Siddaramaiah addressed the persistent flooding of the drains during monsoons. He recommended constructing a parallel drain to mitigate flooding and approved an estimated ₹11.5 crore for flood control works.

CM emphasized the urgency of these projects, instructing officials to prevent public dumping into the drains and warned the Chief Engineer of suspension if a permanent solution is not achieved this year.

This visit underscores the state government’s proactive measures in addressing monsoon-related challenges and ensuring the safety and well-being of Bengaluru residents.
