Chikkaballapur: Accident in NH-44 unravels Red Sandalwood smuggling

An Innova car got toppled in an accident after it lost track of the flow of traffic. The incident occurred on NH-44. During the toppling, Red Sandalwood that was apparently stacked under the seat fell out of the car. It is being estimated that these were worth crores in rupees. It was being transported from Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru.

The police reached the spot of the accident. Investigations were carried out with regard to the incident. A crane was used to dislodge the Innova from the site of the accident.

 3 smugglers who were in the car have been grievously injured. They have been identified as Nagendra, Srinivasalu and Nagaraju. They have been shifted to the nearest district hospital for treatment. 

A case has been registered in the Paresandra police station. It is being speculated that this smuggling happens despite the knowledge of police authorities in the region. The Allu Arjun-starrer blockbuster movie in Telugu, Pushpa also dealt with the same theme.
