A peculiar case has surfaced in the Chikkaballapura district of Karnataka, wherein a child committed suicide after being scolded over phone usage. She drowned in the river. The tragedy occurred in the Uttara Kanipani river that originates in the iconic Nandi Hills and flows between the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The girl belonged to the Gowribidanur taluk. 15-year-old Vidya acted in haste after being reprimanded for being addicted to the virtual world.
She walked out of her house after the conflict with her parents about inculcating healthy habits and headed straight for the Uttara Kanipani river. Upon being notified of the incident the Gowribidanur Nagar police reached the spot. Investigations are currently underway on the issue. Spare the rod and save the child?
