A 9-year-old boy is in critical condition after a branch from a mango tree fell on him and his father at Nandidurga Road around 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The child, who was riding pillion on his father’s bike, suffered severe head injuries and is currently in the ICU. Doctors report profuse bleeding and describe his condition as critical.

The father, who also sustained injuries, was temporarily unconscious following the incident but regained consciousness after being revived with water. He is distraught, expressing his anguish, saying, "He is my only son," and struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
Officials from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) health department rushed to the hospital upon hearing of the incident.
The falling branch highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of aging and poorly maintained trees in Bengaluru, especially during unpredictable weather. Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the branch’s collapse and assess potential risks in the area.
