The people of Bengaluru, who recently recovered from the severe monsoon weather pattern, are now bracing for a sharp drop in temperatures. The early arrival of winter has intensified the cold, prompting authorities to issue precautionary advisories.

According to the weather department, temperatures across the state, including Bengaluru, are expected to remain two to three degrees below average through December and January. This unseasonably cool weather has raised concerns about its impact on public health, particularly among children.
Experts warn that prolonged exposure to cold can lead to respiratory issues, including asthma, flu, and lung infections. Parents are advised to remain vigilant about their children's health, ensuring they are dressed warmly and consume hot water to keep illnesses at bay. Preventive measures, such as staying hydrated and avoiding sudden temperature changes, can help mitigate health risks.
Doctors have also urged residents to prioritize home remedies and preventive care to avoid overcrowding hospitals during this season. "The best defense against the cold is adequate layering, a warm diet, and immediate care at the first sign of illness," they recommend.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has stepped in, directing health personnel to monitor seasonal illnesses closely and take necessary action to address the winter health challenges.
With colder days ahead, residents are encouraged to remain cautious and proactive in protecting their well-being during the winter months.
