China has voiced concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, urging both nations to exercise restraint and prioritize regional peace.
Responding to recent developments, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian reaffirmed Beijing's position on the matter during a press briefing. He emphasized that both India and Pakistan are China’s neighbours and play a vital role in maintaining regional stability.

“China is concerned about the current situation,” Lin stated. “India and Pakistan are permanent neighbours to each other, and also to China. We oppose all forms of terrorism and call on both sides to act in the broader interest of peace.”
The spokesperson urged both countries to adhere to international norms, including the United Nations Charter, and to avoid actions that could exacerbate the situation. He called for calm, restraint, and a commitment to dialogue to resolve differences.
“China is willing to work alongside the international community to play a constructive role in defusing tensions,” Lin added.
The remarks come amid heightened concerns over recent military and diplomatic exchanges between New Delhi and Islamabad. While specific incidents were not detailed, the call for restraint signals China's intent to encourage de-escalation in the region.
Beijing’s neutral stance and emphasis on diplomacy align with its broader foreign policy approach in South Asia, where it maintains strategic ties with both countries.
The international community continues to monitor the situation closely.
