China is offering “airbag jackets” that are designed keeping in mind the safety of senior citizens. These jackets provide protection in the instance of them falling down. They are equipped with an active protection system that can get activated in a timespan of 0.18 seconds. These get activated based on a measure of the impact of the fall. 

An inbuilt chip in the jacket has computational abilities of up to 2000 calculations per second. It constantly keeps the status of posture of an individual in check noting the changes that occur. For these features to be functional, it is necessary that the jackets be charged. However, the avenue for wireless charging has also been provided. 

This has been developed by the Yidiabao Intelligent Technology Company Limited. The company has also developed the technology for belts. 

Song Zhangxuan, deputy manager of  Yidiabao Intelligent Technology Company Limited spoke about the product in an interaction with the South China Morning Post. “We are the first to start research and development in this field and the only one that is set up for mass production in China. No other company has an algorithm to sense and react to potential accidents like us,” he stated.
